The internationally acclaimed and award-winning literary series Four Stories, which runs free events in Boston (USA), Osaka, and Tokyo, kicks off its next event in Shibuya, Tokyo, on March 5, 2009, with readings from the following published authors:
“Love and Lust: Tales of the ties that bind”
* Elaine Lies, 20-year resident of Japan; correspondent at Thomson Reuters News agency; fiction writer with stories in the anthology of expat literature Faces in the Crowd and the magazine Wingspan; and three-time award winner of the Wingspan/ANA fiction contest
* Karen McGee, poet and writer with an MA in creative writing and work in Jabberwocky Review, Earth’s Daughters and Sleepy Tree, Book II; and author with online work from Blade Publishing (written under the pen name Vera Lane)
* Shogo Oketani, former Tokyo-based journalist; author of the poetry collection Cold River and a collection of linked stories, J-Boys,(translated by Avery Udagawa); and recipient of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature
* Ann Slater, longtime Tokyo resident and Associate Professor of American Literature at Japan Women’s University; author whose stories have appeared in journals and in American Dragons, an anthology of work by Asian-American writers; translator of a novella by Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, published in Old Rosa: A Novel in Two Stories
