Published by Stone Bridge Press in 2003, The Yakuza Movie
Book is an introduction to the yakuza movie genre that includes
interviews with directors and actors and 123 reviews. A resident
of Japan since 1975, Schilling has been reviewing films, including
yakuza films, for The Japan Times since 1989. His other book
publications include The Encyclopedia of Japanese Pop Culture,
Contemporary Japanese Film and No Borders, No Limits: The World
of Nikkatsu Action.
