Publisher’s Weekly Announces Nahoko Uehashi as Winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award

SWET is proud to congratulate SWET member Cathy Hirano, the English translator of 2014 Hans Christian Andersen Author Award winner Uehashi Nahoko. These awards are among the oldest and most prestigious international awards for children's literature and are given every other year to an author and an illustrator. See article in Publisher's Weekly.

Uehashi is best known for the 10 volumes of her Moribito series, the first two of which have been translated by Cathy Hirano. Mika Dikengil interviewed Hirano for the May 2009 SWET Newsletter, and the article is on the SWET website here.
