Workshop with Juliet Winters Carpenter

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators will host SCBWI Japan Translation Day on October 18, 2014, in Yokohama. The day will feature a workshop by Juliet Winters Carpenter, translator of A True Novel by Minae Mizumura. A True Novel has won the 2014 Next Generation Indie Book Award’s Grand Prize in Fiction. SWET offers an interview with Carpenter here.

SWETers can attend Translation Day at member price. October 3 is the deadline for advance registrations and translations of short, selected text for Carpenter’s workshop. Email SCBWI to register and request the text.

Translation Day will also feature translators Cathy Hirano, Lynne E. Riggs, and Alexander O. Smith, and as well as Daniel Hahn, program director for the British Centre for Literary Translation (appearing via Skype).
